After more than a decade of extraordinary conditions for financial markets, we are now potentially in a new and less certain market environment. How will traditional asset classes behave, and what can a investor expect from their 60/40 portfolio? Clive Emery Fund Manager/David Aujla, Deputy Fund Manager, discuss whether 60/40 portfolios are still fit for purpose, or if they need to evolve to remain relevant.
By the end of the session, attendees will be able to:
A New Consumer Duty from the FCA. What is it? What does it entail? What do I need to do to comply? And When do I need to do it by? A whistle stop tour of the FCA’s new ‘Big Reveal’ with all of the tips and advice needed to ease you into the new regime. As a follow up to the session, attendees will also receive a guide to compliance with the new regulations.

Speaker: Jamie Farquhar, Square MileOne of the biggest quandaries for accumulating assets in later life is IHT. People tend to not want to give away their money because they might need it but equally, they do not want to give 40% to HMRC when they pass on. As tax receipts hit £6.1bn for the last tax year, and forecast to grow substantially over the next few years, it’s likely clients are worried about their legacies. In this session we will look at some of the exemptions that can be used to mitigate IHT with a special deep dive into the Residential Nil Rate Band to examine whether it works as expected for clients. What if the estate is more than £2m, how does it work if a widow/er remarries, or they downsize or go into a home? Octopus will give a refresh on the main IHT exemptions, clarify the more complex client situations when looking at the RNRB and how the rules are applied to different client scenarios. We will round off by covering the advice solutions available including what the role Business Property Relief can do to help mitigate your clients’ IHT concerns.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this session, you will be able to:

• Articulate potential inheritance tax solutions for clients who have an inheritance tax liability.
Speaker: Matt Johnson, OctopusTBC
Speaker: Andrew Derrington, Puma InvestmentsSarasin & Partners consider how the landscape is changing for investment and regulation, what ‘double materiality’ means for investment advisors, and the dynamics of responsible investing in equities. Legislation around obtaining the clients ESG preferences and client reporting following the introduction of SFDR for European Funds is fast approaching through SDR in the UK and IFAs need to know what is required of them to ensure they are meeting the Target Market rules. We also explore Greenwashing and how to identify this at Manager and Fund level. We use multi media including video footage, questions for the audience and ask for Audience engagement.
By the end of the presentation, you will have a better understanding of:
There is no doubt that inflation is a major concern on everyone’s mind. Consumers are feeling the pinch amid the highest increases in the cost of living for decades, exacerbated by geopolitical conflict, post COVID-19 supply-chain disruptions and the reactions of central banks. In this session, LGIM will unpack the inflation story, examining what it means for investors and identifying some key considerations for financial advisers navigating this challenging landscape.
