We hear a lot about the trillions expected to move between generations.

But there is another side to that statistic which matters enormously to advisers and the question is..."Will the assets move to the next generation, while the adviser relationship stays with you?"

Research suggests that adviser relationships frequently fail to survive the transfer of wealth. So, the opportunity is more than simply helping today's client with IHT planning. It is learning how to become the adviser to the family, rather than just the individual.

That is what we want advisers to take away from this day and here's the order:

1. Capital Group will look at the Great Wealth Transfer through current research and, importantly, turn it into something advisers can actually use: how to identify clients with significant transfer potential, when to start the conversation, how to involve the next generation without making it feel like an estate-planning sales pitch, and how to run effective family wealth briefings.

2. Colin Low, Chartered Financial Planner and author of SIFA's Guide to Estate Planning, will then work through the Spectrum of Estate Planning Solutions - from giving away nothing through trusts and Business Relief solutions - so advisers understand the mainstream options before the expected wave of enquiries created by pensions entering the IHT environment.

3. And Dave Wheeler of LV - will look at Retirement Reimagined: Advice for a Changing World which includes client attitudes to risk, behavioural psychology and how advisers can strengthen the way they structure and talk about retirement advice.

4. Compliance – Vicky Pearce and Rachel MacRae will be providing a practical session exploring the key compliance, suitability and family dynamic risks that can arise in intergenerational planning, helping advisers deliver better client outcomes whilst reducing future complaint and liability risks.

There will also be plenty of opportunity to discuss the ideas with other advisers during our Conversations Over Coffee, lunch, and networking sessions.

The test for these events is simple.

Can an adviser go back to the office the following morning and do something differently that improves their client proposition or their business?

That is very much the intention here.

If you don't attend, you can obviously read about the Great Wealth Transfer, IHT changes and retirement planning elsewhere.

What you may miss is the practical bit:

Which clients should you be speaking to now?

👉 How do you open the conversation?

👉 How do you bring children and beneficiaries into the relationship?

👉 What planning options should you understand?

👉 And how do you stop another adviser becoming the family's adviser when the wealth eventually moves?
